Meet Our Team
Meet the veterinarians and team behind Atlantic Veterinary Hospital. We all bring our own strengths together in pursuit of one goal: to provide exceptional veterinary care for your pets!
Our Veterinarians
Dr. Tricia Munroe
cVMA, CCRT
Medical Director, Certified in Rehab Therapy and Acupuncture
Dr. Tricia Munroe joined our staff in June 2013 after practicing in Minneapolis for five years. Originally from Sitka, Alaska, she attended the University of California-San Diego and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 2008.
Her professional interests include dentistry, veterinary physical rehabilitation therapy, acupuncture, and dog behavior and training.
Dr. Munroe provides acupuncture and rehabilitation therapy for our patients. She completed her certification in veterinary rehabilitation and sports medicine in June 2016.
Dr. Munroe is thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest. When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, exploring new places, trying new things, reading, and spending time with her husband, daughter, Newfoundland dog, Scylla, and cat, Gracie Face.
Dr. Laura Monahan
Practice Owner and Cat Behaviorist
Dr. Monahan is an alumna of The Ohio State University and a transplant from the Midwest. She’s been “doctoring” small critters from the yard since the age of 5. As a teen, she developed a strong desire to help people by caring for their pets. Veterinary medicine has been her passion since.
Dr. Monahan and her husband Steve, our practice administrator, took over the reins of Atlantic Veterinary Hospital in 2010, but Laura has practiced in the Seattle area since they moved here in 1996. Together, they have two young sons and cats, Wishbone and Minky. They are in search of their next Labrador.
Dr. Monahan has 10+ years of experience in cat-only medicine and a special interest in cat medicine and behavior. She also has professional interests in dignified hospice care, nutrition, and challenging medical cases where careful detective work can lead to an answer.
Continuing professional education is critical to Dr. Monahan. She attends conferences regularly and has chaired two national veterinary conferences. For fun, she enjoys hiking and skiing with her family, as well as reading, cooking, and organic gardening.
Dr. Kayla Cline
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Kayla Cline has joined us all the way from her sunny home state of Florida. Dr. Cline grew up in Daytona Beach, where she always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. After she helped raise some baby squirrels displaced from a hurricane, she was hooked!
She graduated from the University of Florida in 2014 with a B.S. in Animal Science and was a member of their Equestrian Team. She earned her DVM from the University of Florida.
During vet school, Dr. Cline developed a love for internal medicine, shelter medicine, and pain management.
Dr. Cline is ecstatic about getting to experience and explore the Pacific Northwest, away from alligators, hurricanes, and hordes of mosquitos. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, trying new foods and drinks, fish-keeping, and spending time with her husband, her rescue dog, Echo, and two cats, Tortilla and Jackson.
Dr. Xuân Mai Võ
DVM, CVA, CVPP
Relief Veterinarian and Pain Specialist
Dr. Xuân Mai Võ is our relief veterinarian. Recently hailing from the East Coast, she came to Washington for the mountains, which remind her of her native Switzerland.
Dr. Võ graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has earned additional professional certifications in veterinary acupuncture and pain management.
Dr. Võ has worked in both clinical practice and as a professor in academia. Her professional passions are cats, adventure pets, pain management, anatomy, and public health. She maintains a deep commitment to improving the quality of life in animals and supporting the bond between them and their families.

Kari earned her associate’s degree in veterinary technology at PIMA Medical Institute. She is a quick learner and a wonderful patient advocate for the pets we serve.
She also does a great job as our staff and inventory manager, doing her best to keep our shelves well-stocked (amidst the recent frequent drug recalls and shortages) and our prices competitive.
Married and mom of one son, Kari enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, cheering on the Seattle Sounders soccer team, and loving on her kitties, Joey and George.

She is known around the clinic to her patients as the Treat Fairy and our clinic cat, Bubba’s best friend. Glo especially likes spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking, relaxing with her family, and caring for pets. She shares her home with three kitties, Masika, Winona, and Stormy Cat.
Sav/Dag

Sav/Dag is an experienced veterinary assistant who worked several years in shelter medicine. They’re particularly good with dogs that are nervous away from home. Originally from Florida with a degree in philosophy, they migrated northwest for our great weather. Away from work, they’re a published author and speak at national conferences on fantasy literature. They’re also a big fan of participating in Renaissance fairs. They have one kitty at home named GT Absinthe.
Jesse
Veterinary Assistant
It took Jesse a while to figure out that her love of animals could be a career and they made her heart sing. A Boilermaker from Indiana, she has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and supervision from Purdue University. Jesse has had a varied career, including several years’ experience in shelter medicine, and is especially adept at working with nervous pets. She and her husband share their home with a pooch, Gallagher, and two kitties, Reverend and Captain.
Lily
Veterinary Assistant
Lily helps our doctors care for patients in her role as a veterinary assistant. Hailing from California, Lily is a graduate of the University of Washington and contemplating a career as a veterinary pathology or toxicology specialist in either veterinary medicine or human medicine — which means any yucky stuff we encounter is especially interesting to her! In her free time, she works as a teaching assistant in the UW Department of Biological Sciences, volunteers in wildlife rehabilitation, and spends time with her kitties.

An avid animal lover, Burgundy, is originally from Kentucky but moved to Seattle for bigger horizons. Away from work, she likes to camp, snowboard, crochet, and eat chocolate. She shares her home with her partner and a crested gecko, Gilliana.
Nellie
Receptionist
Nellie enjoys pets and people. They live in an intentional community where they are in charge of building maintenance. They worked several years in the pet field before coming to Atlantic Vet. An amateur artist, you might see some of their cartoons around the hospital. Originally from Florida, they moved here to explore the Pacific Northwest. Nellie especially loves rain, frogs, and our beautiful views. They share their living space with Cow, the cat, and Dandy, the leopard gecko.
Alwyn
Receptionist
Alwyn is originally a Midwesterner and moved to Seattle to study at the University of Washington where they completed a degree in gender studies and history of ideas. They have several years’ experience in the pet care field before joining us at Atlantic Vet. After hours, they are working on a graphic novel and enjoys exploring the City of Seattle. Alwyn enjoys the company of their rabbit, Mousse, and chinchilla, Moonpie. They hope to eventually return to the role of veterinary assistant.
Buford “Bubba” Jones
Public Relations Officer
Bubba, our clinic cat, is a favorite among clients. He came to us in 2010 from the streets of Lynnwood after a previous career as a man-about-town.
His official duties include greeting, comforting, and amusing our clients and occasionally taunting curious dogs with a practiced look of disdain while remaining just out of reach. He is quite adept at coaxing everyone — including clients, staff, and the mailman — into opening the treat jar for him and is thus on a perpetual diet to keep his manly figure.
His hobbies include working on his tan in the lobby under the skylight, morning naps, purring, watching the action in our Treatment Room from atop the refrigerator, afternoon naps, and running laps through the pharmacy after hours. He’s decided that his position at Atlantic is one of importance and privilege, and he has no plans whatsoever to return to his former life on the streets.
